Clear guidelines to support learning, fairness, and student success. Please review the policies below.
The Admissions Office follows a “first come first serve” policy to ensure every application is studied individually as soon as it is received. Once there are no more available places in a class, application requests will no longer be accepted.
Teacher’s Role
- Designing Assessments: Create quizzes, tests, projects, and assignments aligned with learning objectives.
- Setting Expectations: Communicate what will be assessed, criteria, and success standards clearly.
- Administering Assessments: Ensure fairness and consistency during written/oral/presentation assessments.
- Monitoring & Proctoring: Prevent cheating; do not answer questions during exams except clarifications (repeated to the whole class).
- Grading & Evaluation: Score objectively and provide specific, constructive feedback for improvement.
- Feedback & Communication: Share results with students and parents/guardians in a timely manner.
- Tracking Progress: Use assessment data to support students with intervention or enrichment.
- Professional Development: Use assessment results to improve teaching strategies.
Core Languages
- English is taught across all grade levels.
- German (Deutsch) is offered across the school with progression pathways including Deutsch A2, Deutsch DSD I, and Deutsch DSD II.
- Arabic is offered across grade levels in different pathways, including Arabic, Arabic IP, Arabic Intensive, and in upper grades Arabic HL/SL.
Additional Languages
- French and Spanish are offered as additional language subjects in the middle and upper grades, depending on the student pathway and program.
Upper Grades & Diploma Pathways
- Language offerings follow the school pathways: Lebanese Program (LP), International Program (IP), and the IB Diploma Programme.
- In the IB Diploma Programme, languages may be offered at HL (Higher Level) or SL (Standard Level) according to IB requirements.
Certification & Progression
- German language progression prepares students for the DSD I and DSD II certifications, depending on grade level and proficiency.
- Language placement and progression follow the official DISB subject offering structure (SY 26–27).
Academic Integrity
- Students must submit original work and correctly cite sources.
- Plagiarism, cheating, and collusion are not permitted.
Assessment & Coursework
- Students are responsible for meeting deadlines and IB requirements.
- Internal assessments and coursework must follow IB criteria and teacher guidance.
Learner Profile & Expectations
- Students are expected to reflect the IB Learner Profile: principled, open-minded, communicators, thinkers, and balanced.
- Respectful behavior and responsible use of technology are required.
Attendance & Participation
- Consistent attendance and active participation are essential for IB success.
- Missed work must be completed according to school and teacher guidelines.
